"Beyond a Peanut"

Interactive Flashcards Teaching Individuals about Staying Safe with Peanut & Tree Nut Allergies

These flashcards are designed to help children, their families, friends, and child care providers learn about the hidden dangers and possible places that peanuts and tree nuts may be present.

The flash-cards combine a wide variety of comprehensive information into an easy to learn format. The flashcards help individuals understand why vigilance is necessary at home, and in the school systems to help keep children safe.

For teachers, school nurses, educators and child care providers the cards are a great teaching tool. They introduce, cross-contamination, the importance of label reading, and carrying emergency medication. They do this in an easy to read format with colorful graphics for the children, and informational teaching tips on the back.

When used in a classroom setting, or with friends and family, they provide the education necessary to create a supportive and helpful environment rather than one that may single a child out.

There are 36 flash cards on a metal ring. Each card has one of the below color codes.

Green cards are designed to help adults educate children. Cards outlined in green address foods or situations that are considered relatively safe. Someone with a peanut or tree nut allergy would still need to be aware of situations that can make an environment unsafe or cross contaminate a usually safe product.

Red cards are designed to help adults educate children. Cards outlined in red address foods or situations that have a greater risk for someone with a peanut or tree nut allergy. These cards offer alternative ideas, and provide suggestions to ensure the safety of someone with a peanut allergy.

Yellow cards are designed for adults. Cards outlined in yellow are items or situations that can present a potential danger for someone with a peanut or tree nut allergy. These cards are designed to create awareness.

Blue cards provide general information to help individuals with food allergies.

Until there is a cure, education plays a key factor in keeping children safe.

Cards are available on line for $13.99 plus shipping and handling. Visit www.beyondapeanut.com or contact Dina Clifford at 720-482-0384, Dina@beyondapeanut.com
